  • 10 cups Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored and sliced
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Optional - can add 1 cup raisins or other dried fruit
  • Topping
  • 1 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 cup butter

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degree C).
Filling
Slice apples into a bowl. Mix white sugar, flour and cinnamon in bowl and add to apples mix together. Place apple mixture in a 9x13 inch pan. Sprinkle with lemon juice and vanilla.

Combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and vanilla. Cut in cold butter and mix together. Crumble evenly over the apple mixture.

Bake at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for about 45 minutes.
