Banana cream tart

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup heavy cream,heated to a boil
  • 1 cup chopped dark chocolate
  • 6 tbs butter,melted
  • 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1 cup sugar,divided
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 cups milk
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbs butter
  • 1 cup stiffly whipped cream
  • 2 large bananas,peeled and sliced lengthwise
  • coconut ice cream(optional)

Preparation

Step 1

heat oven to 350

-In a bowl,pour hot cream over chocolate;let sit 1 min,then stir until smooth
-In separate bowl,combine melted butter,graham cracker crumbs and 1/4 cup chocolate mixture
-Press mixture onto the bottom and sides of 6 individual tart pans with removable bottoms.
-Bake 10 min,or until lightly toasted
-In saucepan,combine flour,3/4 cup sugar,and salt
-Slowly whisk in milk;cook over medium heat 8 min,stirring constantly,until mixture is smooth and thick
-In separate bowl,beat together egg yolks and 1/2 cup batter
-Add mixture back into batter,cook 5 min,more,stirring constantly
-Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and butter
-Let cool,covered,10 min
-Fold whipped cream into mixture and divide filling among tart pans
-Chill 15 min
-Top with sliced bananas
-Sprinkle remaining 1/4 cup sugar over bananas until it is caramelized
-Serve each tart with remaining chocolate sauce and coconut ice cream if desired
