BRAISED RED CABBAGE

  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 Empire apple, peeled, cored and diced
  • 8 cups shredded red cabbage
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 tsp cider vinegar

Preparation

Step 1

In large saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and apple; cook, stirring, until apple is beginning to soften, about 3 minutes.

Stir in cabbage, salt, pepper and water. Cover and cook until cabbage is almost tender, about 12 minutes. Stir in cider vinegar; cook, stirring, until cabbage is tender and liquid has evaporated, about 5 minutes.
