Step 1

in a food processor put 1 ¾ c flour, 1 tbsp plus 2 tsp baking powder, 2 ½ tsp sugar, ¼ tsp salt and pulse. Then add 3 tbsp vegetable shortening and pulse until combined. Then add 4 tbsp cold butter cut in pieces and pulse 4-5 times or until mixture is pea size. Then add 1 ¼ c cheddar cheese and pulse 2-3 times. Then add ¾ c whole milk and pulse until it “forms a shaggy dough.” Take out and knead until it comes together. Do not over work it as it will make the biscuits tough. The put on a tray and put in a pre heated 425 degree oven with rack on top position. Bake 15-20 minutes. Then melt 3 tbsp butter, 1 smashed garlic clove and 1 tsp chopped fresh parsely and when melted, cook on medium heat another 1 minute. When bisquits are done, brush on butter mixture. I tried these on 11/2/09 and they were really good. Kyle, Ryan and Jackie loved them.
