Monkey Bread Minis
- 1 1/2 stickes (6 oz.) unsalted butter, chilled
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 1/3 cup plus 2 Tbls. granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 Tbls. ground cinnamon
- 2 cups flour
- 1 Tbls. baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup buttermilk, chilled
-Preheat oven 425 degrees
-In a small bowl, microwave 4 tablespoons butter & maple syrup until melted (about 30 sec. on high) stir.
-In small bowl, stir together 1/3 cup granulated sugar, brown sugar,& cinnamon.
-In food processor, combine flour, baking powder, the remaining 2 tablespoons granulated sugar & salt; pulse to combine. Cut remaining stick butter into small pieces & pulse with flour mixture until course crumbs form. Pulse in buttermilk until dough comes together. Transfer to lightly floured surface, pat into 10 inch square (will be sticky). Quarter the dough, then cut each quarter into 16 equal pieces; roll into balls.
-Dip each ball into maple butter, then coat with sugar mixture. Place 5-6 coated balls into each muffin cup & press to compact.
-Bake until cooked through & golden, 15 to 17 min. (tent with foil if tops darken too quickly.)
-Transfer muffin pan to rack & cool for 10 min. Using a knife, loosen the sides of bread; invert onto a platter, then turn right side up. Serve warm.
You can stir together 1 cup confectioners' sugar & 2 tablespoons milk & drizzle over the bread as it cools.
