- 1 cake compressed yeast
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 cups luke-warm water
- 3 tbsp. shortening
- 7 cups flour
Crumble yeast in large mixing bowl
Add sugar, salt and water
Add beaten egg
Add half the flour and beat well
Add melted shortening and mix in remainder of flour
Let rise to double it's bulk
Punch down and shape into rolls.
Let rolls rise until double in size
Bake at 425 degrees for 20-25 min.
Half the dough may be refrigerated for future use.
Also, maybe 6-6 1/2 cups flour may be sufficient. Better to have a little more than to have the dough dry and stiffen.
Experiment a little.
