Mom’s Banana Pudding

  • 6 c. milk, divided
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 4 eggs, well beaten & strained
  • 6 T. corn starch
  • 1 T. vanilla
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 3 T. butter                                                                  bananas
  • vanilla wafers



Step 1

Bring 5 c. milk to near boiling.  Combine eggs & salt to sugar; mix well.  Add to hot milk; stirring constantly.  Dissolve corn starch in reserved milk; add slowly to hot milk mixture, stirring constantly.  Cook until thick.  Stir in vanilla & butter.  Cool, stirring frequently to prevent a “skin” on top.  When cool, layer cookies, bananas & pudding in dish.  Repeat.  Crush several vanilla wafers & sprinkle on top.
