Ingredients
- 2 cups packed brown sugar
- 1 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 4 cup quick cooking oats
- 1 3/4 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 tsp salt

Step 1
Heat oven to 375*.
Mix brown sugar, shortening, buttermilk and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Shape dough into 1 inch balls.
Place 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten with bottom of glass dipped in water. Bake until golden brown, 8-10 minutes. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
