Ingredients
- 8 cups oyster crackers (divided)
- 1 stick unsalted butter (melted, divided)
- SAVORY CRACKERS
- 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes (or to taste)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese (grated)
- Sweet Crackers
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons fresh thyme leaves
- 1 lemon (zest)
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 325ºF.
Divide oyster crackers between 2 baking sheets.
For the Savory Crackers: onto one of the batches of crackers, add half of the melted butter. Sprinkle the thyme, garlic powder, chili flakes, salt and Parmesan cheese, and toss to evenly coat. Place in the oven for 8-10 minutes, until golden-brown and toasted. Remove and set aside to cool.
For the Sweet Crackers: onto the other batch of crackers, add half of the melted butter. In a small bowl, add the sugar, salt, thyme, lemon zest and vanilla. Using your fingertips, rub the herbs and flavorings into the sugar to combine. Sprinkle the flavored sugar over the buttered crackers. Toss to combine. Place in the oven for 8-10 minutes, until golden-brown and toasted. Remove and set aside to cool.
