Meat Crust Pizza


This is a great substitute for pizza when on Phase 1 of the South Beach Diet. This is very filling !!

Meat Crust Pizza 0 Picture


  • Pizza toppings of your choice:
  • 2 pound of extra lean ground beef
  • 2-3 cups grated low fat mozzarella, divided
  • 1 cup pizza sauce, no sugar added
  • Canadian Bacon
  • Low fat pepperoni
  • Onions
  • Green Peppers
  • Mushrooms
  • Etc...anything acceptable for Phase 1


Servings 4


Step 1

Brown about 2 pounds of extra lean ground beef.
Preheat oven to 350.
Put beef in a large bowl & mix well with 2 cups(or less) of Lf mozzarella cheese.

Spread mixture out like a pizza crust on a cookie sheet or a baking stone.

Spread 1 cup pizza sauce on the mixture. Ragu is ok.(pizza sauce, no sugar in it)

Top with canadian bacon and or low fat pepperoni slices and other phase 1 acceptable pizza toppings of your choice. Finish by putting on about 1 cup of the shredded mozzarella.

Cook 15 min. or so (when top cheese starts to brown it is done.) Put foil on rack below to catch any drippings.
