  • Frosting:
  • 2 Cups Flour + 2 Tbs. Flour
  • 2 Cups Sugar
  • 1 tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Cup Shortening
  • 1/2 Cup Buttermilk
  • 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla
  • 2 Cups Apples, chopped
  • 1/2 Cup Butter
  • 6 Tbs. Milk
  • 3 1/2 Cups Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. Vanilla
  • 1/8 Cups Caramel Sauce

Step 1

In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and cinnamon; set aside. In a medium saucepan, combine butter, water and shortening. Bring to a boil. Then add it to the flour mixture and stir to combine. Add buttermilk, baking soda, eggs, and vanilla in that order, mixing between each addition. Stir in apples. Pour into greased 15" x 13" jelly roll pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Let cool 10-15 minutes. While cooling, make frosting by combining butter and milk in a medium mixing bowl. Microwave until butter is melted. Add powdered sugar, vanilla and caramel sauce and stir until smooth. Pour evenly over cooled cake.
