- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1/4 c. warm water
- 1 Tb. sugar
- 1 c. milk
- 2/3 c. prepared mustard
- 2 Tb. butter
- 4 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 Tb. water
Preparation
Step 1
In a small bowl, combine yeast, 1/4 c. warm water, and sugar; stir until well blended. In a small saucepan, heat milk, mustard, and butter over medium-high heat until butter melts. In a large bowl, combine yeast mixture, milk mixture, and flour. Stir until a soft dough forms. turn onto a lightly floured surface and knead about 8 minutes or until dough becomes smooth and elastic. Place in a large bowl sprayed with cooking spray with cooking spray, turning once to coat top of dough. cover and let rise in a warm place (80-85 degrees) 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Turn dough onto a lightly floured surface and punch down. Shape dough into 1 1/2" balls and place 2" apart on a greased baking sheet. Lightly spray tops of rolls with cooking spray. Cover and let rise in a warm place 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. In a small bowl, whisk egg yolk with 1 Tb. water; brush over tops of rolls. Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Great with brisket.
