Ingredients
- 3/4 c. milk
- 3/4 c. water
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 Tb. chopped fresh parsley
- 2 Tb. chopped fresh chives
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 (.25 oz.) pkgs. active dry yeast
- 2 large eggs
- 7 1/4 c. sifted bread flour, divided
- 14 Tb. unsalted butter, melted, divided
Preparation
Step 1
In a small saucepan, combine milk, water, sugar, parsley, chives, and salt over medium heat until just warm (105-115 degrees). Remove from heat and mix in yeast and eggs. In a large bowl, lightly stir together 5 c. flour and yeast mixture. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes. Stir in 8 Tb. melted butter. Add another 1 1/2 cups flour and mix well. Cover and let rise for an additional 30 minutes. Remove dough from bowl and knead in 3/4 cup flour for 3 minutes. Divide dough into 16 equal pieces. Shape into balls and place on lightly greased baking sheets. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise for an additional 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Remove plastic wrap. Bake rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until lightly brown. Remove from oven and brush with remaining 8 Tb. melted butter.
