Marbled Bundt Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 cups sifted cake flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 square (1 oz.) unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled

Preparation

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, cream butter; gradually add sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Blend in vanilla. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt; with milk, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form, fold into batter.

Divide batter in half; fold chocolate into one half. Alternate light and dark batters by spoonfuls in a buttered 10 x 3 1/4 -inch Bundt pan; run wide knife through batter. Bake at 325 degrees F for 45-60 minutes. Allow to cool completely.
