Ingredients
- 16 oz cranberries
- 1 1/2 cups vodka
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/2 lemon or lime peel
- 1/4 orange peel
- Optional: 1 stick cinnamon and 1/8 tsp ground allspice

Step 1
Chop the cranberries in a blender or food processor-do not leave any berries whole. Pour into jar. Using an apple peeler, carefully peel just the rind (no white pith) from the lemon or lime and orange. Place in the jar. Pour the vodka in. If using the optional spices, add them now also. Boil sugar and water together, when the sugar is all dissolved, let stand a minute then measure 1 ½ cups into the jar. Seal the jar quickly, lest the alcohol evaporate in the heat. Let the mixture steep for 4 weeks, shaking lightly each day. Store in a dark place.
After steeping strain through cheesecloth, squeezing solids. Then strain through coffee filter or paper towel. Aging a month will help mellow.
