Ingredients
- Gluhwein, or "glow wine" is a traditional German beverage steeped with spices and sweetened with brown sugar.
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp. dried lemon peel
- 1/4 tsp. ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
- 1 (1.5 liters) burgundy wine
- 2 c. packed brown sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Place spices in a 6" square of cheesecloth or a coffee filter; tie with a string. Combine wine and sugar in a Dutch oven. Add bundle of spices. Stirring constantly, cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves and wine is heated through. Remove spice bundle. Store in an airtight container in refrigerator.
