Garlic-Cheese Grits

Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 qts. water
  • 1 1/2 Tb. salt
  • 4 c. quick-cooking grits, uncooked
  • 5 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (2 lb.) loaf pasteurized prepared cheese product, cubed
  • 1 c. half and half
  • 2/3 c. butter
  • ground red pepper or paprika to garnish

Preparation

Step 1

Bring water and salt to a boil in a large Dutch oven; gradually stir in grits and garlic. Cover, reduce heat, and simmer 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add cheese, half and half, and butter; simmer, stirring constantly, until cheese and butter melt.
