Ingredients
- 2 lbs. ground beef chuck or sirloin, (20% fat)
- 4 Tb. minced onion
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 Tb. minced fresh oregano
- 1 tsp. kosher salt
- 1/4 tsp. freshly ground black pepper
- 8 slices Cheddar or Swiss cheese, opt.
- 8 hamburger buns
- lettuce leaves
- tomatoes, sliced
- ketchup, mustard and mayonnaise
Preparation
Step 1
1. In a bowl, gently combine ground beef, onion, garlic, oregano, salt and pepper. Form into 8 (3/4" thick) patties. Grill over hot coals or cook in a hot skillet for 4-5 minutes per side, turning once only.
2. After the turning, top the burgers with the cheese, if desired. Serve on toasted buns with tomato slices, lettuce leaves and condiments.
