Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream, whipped

Preparation

Step 1

Heat oven to 375. Spray cookie sheets

In large bowl, beat shortening, butter and sugar at medium speed for 2 minutes. Add vanilla and eggs.; beat until thoroughly combined. In large bowl, sift flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt; blend into shortening mixture with cream. Refrigerate at least 2 hours.

Roll dough 1/4 inch thick onto flour-dusted board. Cut with cookie cutters; arrange about 1 inch apart on sheets.

Bake 6-8 minutes or until golden. Store in air-tight container.
