Beans - BBQ Brisket Beans

Ingredients

  • For the bean seasoning: (makes 1/2 cup)
  • 1/4 cup chile powder
  • 2 Tbsp. kosher salt
  • 1 Tbsp. pepper
  • 1/2 Tbsp,. onion powder
  • 1/2 Tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 tea. cumin
  • For the beans
  • 1 lb. dried pinto beans, picked over and rinsed
  • 1/2 cup diced yellow onion
  • 1/2 cup bean seasoning
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 cup chopped, shredded brisket

Preparation

Step 1

Make the seasoning: mix all ingredients in a bowl and mix well.

Combine the beans, onions, seasoning and water in a large pot and let soak for 4-6 hours, or up to overnight.

Add the shredded brisket to the soaked beans and bring to a boil.

Lower the heat to a slow simmer, cover and cook for 3-4 hours, until the beans are tender.
