GERMAN CREAM CHEESE BROWNIES

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg (4oz) bakers german sweet chocolate
  • 5 TBL butter
  • 1 pkg (3oz) cream cheese
  • 1 C sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1/2 C + 1 TBL flour (unsifted)
  • 1-1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 C coarsely chopped nuts
  • 1/4 tsp almond extract

Preparation

Step 1

melt choc. & 3 TBL butter - cool
cream remaining butter w/ cream cheese until softened
gradually add 1/4 C sugar, creaming till light & fluffy
stir in 1 egg, 1 TBL flour & 1/2 tsp vanilla until blended

beat remaining eggs till fluffy & light in color
grad. add remaining 3/4 C sugar, beating until thick
fold in baking powder, salt & remaining 1/2 C flour
blend in cooled choc. mix
stir in nuts, almond extract & remaining 1 tsp vanilla

measure 1 C choc. batter - set aside
spread remaining choc. batter in greased 9" sq pan
pour cheese mix over top
drop meas. choc. batter from TBL onto cheese mix
swirl mix tog w/ spatula just to marble

bake 350, 35-40 min
cool
cut in bars or squares
