SMOKY PORK PASTA SAUCE

Got this from Canadian Living, September 2015 .. very very good - Adam loved it...

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground pork
  • 2 strips chopped bacon
  • 2 diced carrots
  • 2 ribs diced celery
  • 1 diced onion
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 4 cups tomatoe sauce
  • 1 cup dry red wine
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/4 tsp hot pepper flakes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Preparation

Step 1

Brown meat and bacon till cooked. Remove from heat. Drain all but 2 tbsp fat from pot. Cook carrots, celery and onion for about 10 minutes till soft. Add garlic and cook 1 minute. Add remaining ingredients and cook for about one hour. Remove bay leaf.

Serve over pasta.
