Buttermilk Pound Cake

Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 c sugar
  • 1/2 tsp lemon extract
  • 1/2 c butter
  • 3 c flour
  • 1/2 c shortening
  • 1/2 tsp soda
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 c buttermilk
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Preparation

Step 1

Cream together sugar, butter and shortening, add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in Vanilla and lemon extract., Sift together flour, and soda. Add to creamed mixture alternately w buttermilk beating well. Pour into greased and floured 10inch tube pan. Bake at 325 for 1 ¼ hours. Cool in pan 10 minutes and then invert and cool on rack.
