Cheesy Pretzel Rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 (16 oz.) pkg. hot roll mix with yeast packet
  • 1/2 c. shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
  • 1 c. hot water, (120-130 degrees)
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 Tb. butter, softened
  • 1 large egg, lightly beaten
  • kosher salt, sesame seeds, or poppy seeds

Preparation

Step 1

Combine hot roll mix, yeast packet, and cheese; add water, 1 egg, and butter, stirring until blended. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface, and knead 5 minutes or until smooth. Cover and let rest 5 minutes.

Cut dough into 24 pieces; roll each on a lightly floured surface into a 9" rope. Twist into a pretzel shape. Place on lightly greased baking sheets. Brush with beaten egg, and sprinkle with salt, sesame seeds, or poppy seeds, if desired. Bake at 400 degrees for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
