Ingredients
- 1 cup butter or regular margarine, softened
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 2 1/4 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts, optional

Step 1
Cream butter or margarine, sugar, brown sugar and vanilla until light and fluffy. Add eggs; beat well. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375deg for 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet. Yield: 6 dozen 2 ½-inch cookies.
