Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 pint half and half
  • 1 (13 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 quart strawberries, mashed
  • Red food coloring
  • Milk

Preparation

Step 1

Beat eggs at high speed of electric mixer until very thick (about 10 minutes). Lower speed to medium, and gradually beat in sugar. Stir in half and half, evaporated milk, vanilla and salt; mix well. Add strawberries and stir in food coloring to desired color.

Pour mixture into freezer, add sufficient milk, freeze and let ripen 2 hours. Yield: 1 gallon.
