Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large sweet onion chopped
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 cup goat cheese, at room temperature
- 1/2 cup cream cheese softened
- 1/4 cup sour cream
- 1 packages frozen puff pastry sheets (1/2 box or 2 sheets), defrosted
Preparation
Step 1
Place olive oil in a large sauce pan over medium heat. Add onions and cook, stirring occasionally, until caramelized, about 35 minutes. Stir in balsamic vinegar. Take off heat and let come to room temperature.
While onions are cooling, place goat cheese and cream cream in a small bowl. Stir until soft and then mix in sour cream, blend until easily spreadable.
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Place puff pastry on baking sheet. Spread goat cheese over tart, leaving a ½ inch border on all sides. Top tart evenly with onions. You can score into pieces at this time with pizza cutter so when cooked easily cuts into squares
Bake until crust is golden, about 10-12 minutes.
Let tart cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.
You can also use individual puff pastry shells:
2 packages frozen mini phyllo cups
If using pastry cups, precook for about 10 minutes. Fill with cheese mixture and top tartlets evenly with onions.
