Homemade Ice Cream

There is nothing better than homemade ice cream! Serve with your favorite fruit, fresh whipped cream and or chocolate sauce. Yum!

    pints half and half

  • 6


  • 2

    cups sugar

  • teaspoon salt

  • 1

    quart heavy cream (whipping cream)

  • 2

    tablespoons vanilla


Mix all ingredients and beat with a mixer. Put in an electric ice cream maker. Put crushed ice and rock salt around the container with the ice cream mixture inside. Plug the ice cream maker in and continue adding ice, a little water to help melt the ice and rock salt. It usually takes about 30 minutes to get the ice cream to thicken and harden. The motor will slow down and then stop, make sure you unplug to ensure the motor from burning up.
