Frosted Ginger Cookies

Ingredients

  • 3/4 C softened butter
  • 1 C sugar
  • 1 large beaten egg
  • 3 T molasses
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1/2 t salt
  • 1 1/2 t ground ginger
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1/2 t ground cloves
  • 1/2 t ground nutmeg
  • 2 C packed flour
  • 1/2 C sugar for rolling dough balls

Preparation

Step 1

The Glaze (after baking)
1 C powdered sugar
1 t lemon juice

In medium bowl, combine butter and sugar. Beat until fluffy. Mix in egg. Add molasses. Add baking soda and salt. Stir well. Sprinkle in spices.

All flour slowly.

Roll dough into 1"balls--roll in sugar. Grease cookie sheet. Press down slightly

Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees. Cool for 2 minutes on cookies sheets.

When cool, make glaze. Make it thin enough to drizzle on cookies. Let dry before storing.
