Ingredients
- 1 Whole Chicken, cut into pieces, skin removed
- 3 cups water
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 cups intant rice, uncooked
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 Tbs butter, melted
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1 1/2 cups half and half
- 2 Tbs parsley
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 package chopped frozen broccoli, thawed
- 1/2 cup slivered almonds
Preparation
Step 1
Place chicken in crock pot with water and 1 tsp salt. Cover with lid and cook on high for 6 hours. After chicken is cooked, remove chicken and set aside. Pour remaining liquid in measuring cup. In saucepan, melt butter and saute onion and almonds until are transparent. Add flour and stir to make paste. Add half and half and chicken broth and continue cooking over medium high heat until mixture forms a gravy. Pour mixture into crock pot. Remove chicken from bones and return meat to crock pot. Add all remaining ingredients and stir to blend. Cover with lid and continue cooking on high for 2-4 hours.
