Mom's Rye Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rye Flour
  • 3/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tab. Salt
  • 3/4 cup Crisco
  • 1/2 cup Molasses
  • 4 cups Scalded Milk
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 Tab. Sugar
  • 2 Pkgs. Yeast(4 1/2 tsp.)
  • 4 cups white Flour
  • 5 cups White Flour

Preparation

Step 1

Mix Rye Flour, Brown Surar,Salt, Crisco and Molasses with 4 cups scalded Milk. Let cool.In a small bowl put1/4 cup water,1 Tab sugar,2Pkgs Yeast. Let stand for few minutes. add 4 cups white flour to mixture at once.Then add approximately 5 Cups of Flour until stiff dough.KNEED. Place in bowl to double.punch down and rise second time for 30 minutes. Place dough into 4 loaf pans and le rise the third time until double. Bake 325 for 1 hour.
