Caramel Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1 box German chocolate cake mix
  • 3/4 cup margarine, melted
  • 1/3 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 6-ounce package milk chocolate chips
  • 1 small package nuts, chopped
  • 1 14-ounce package caramels
  • 2/3 cup evaporated milk
  • Powdered sugar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix first 3 ingredients together well. Spread half of this mixture in a prepared 13x9-inch pan. Bake 10 minutes at 350º. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over this and chopped nuts, if desired. Melt caramels in double boiler. Add 2/3 cup evaporated milk and stir. pour over top of cake. Pour remaining batter over this. Bake 30 minutes at 350º. Cool at least 2 1/2 hours. Cut and roll in powdered sugar.
