Flakey Pie Crust

Makes 1 two crust pie and 1 pie shell

Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup plus 2 Tbsp shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 5 Tbsp water
  • 1 Tbsp vinegar

Preparation

Step 1

Mix flour and salt. Cut in shortening. Mix egg, vinegar and water. Beat lightly and add to flour and shortening mixture. Blend with fork until dough begins to form. Roll on lightly floured board.

Bake per recipe directions for double crust pie.

Bake single crust at 375 for 10 to 15 minutes, or until lightly browned.
