Ingredients
- 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. apple pie spice
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/8 tsp. baking soda
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
- 1/3 cup plain low fat yogurt
- 2/3 cup shredded unpeeled apple
- 3 Tbs. sugar
- 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon

Step 1
Coat 6 indentations in doughnut pan with cooking spay. Set aside
In medium bowl stir together flour through baking soda. Cut in butter until mixture resembles small crumbs.
In small bowl combine egg and yogurt. Add egg mixture to flour mixture, stir until just combined, do not over mix. Gently fold in apple.
Spoon batter into a pastry bag fitted with a 1/2 inch round tip. Pipe batter into doughnut indentations. Lightly coat a sheet of saran wrap with cooking spray, and place wrap coated side down over batter. Chill for 2 to 24 hours.
Preheat oven to 350°. Bake about 15 minutes or until doughnuts are light and golden brown and spring back when lightly touched. Cool in pan on wire rack for for 5 minutes.
In a small bowl combine the 3 Tbsp. sugar and cinnamon. As soon a doughnuts are cool enough to handle dip into sugar to coat.
NOTE: Use more apple pie spice and more cinnamon.
