HG's Spicy Asian Meatballs

Ingredients

  • Meatballs
  • 1 lb. raw extra-lean ground beef (4% fat or less)
  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced scallions
  • 2 tbsp. fat-free liquid egg substitute (like Egg Beaters Original)
  • 1 tbsp. reduced-sodium/lite soy sauce
  • 2 tsp. chopped garlic
  • 1 1/2 tsp. chopped ginger
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. black pepper
  • Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Asian-style chili garlic sauce
  • 2 tbsp. seasoned rice vinegar
  • 1 1/2 tbsp. hoisin sauce
  • 2 tsp. brown sugar (not packed)

Preparation

Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick spray.

1. Thoroughly mix meatball ingredients in a large bowl. Firmly and evenly form into 24 meatballs, and place them on the baking sheet, evenly spaced.

2. Bake for 10 minutes.

3. Gently flip meatballs. Bake until cooked through, about 5 minutes.

4. Meanwhile, place sauce ingredients in another large bowl, and whisk until uniform.

5. Add cooked meatballs to the sauce in the large bowl, and gently toss to coat.
