Granola

This is the recipe my Dad used to make Granola for us when we were kids

Ingredients

  • 6 cups Quick or Regular Oats (1# 2oz box)
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup wheat germ
  • 1/2 cup flaked coconut
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds (or sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds or sliced almonds)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk
  • 2/3 cup honey (or maple syrup)
  • 2/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 T water
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla (or 2 tsp maple extract)
  • 1 cup raisins, optional after baking

Preparation

Step 1

In large bowl combine oats, sugar, wheat germ, coconut, seeds, nuts and nonfat dry milk.

Combine liquid ingredients.

Add to oat mix. Stir well. Bake in two large shallow pans at 300° 25-35 minutes or until lightly toasted. Stir twice during baking. Stir occasionally while cooling. Store in tightly sealed containers.

May be frozen.
