Ingredients
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 cups white sugar
- 4 eggs + 1 egg yolk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups sifted cake flour
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 3/4 cups milk (I used buttermilk)
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour one 9 x 13 inch pan.
Cream together shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Mix well. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake for 45 minutes, or until cake tests done. Cool.
