Ham-Potato Phyllo Bake

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs red potato, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 med onion, chopped
  • 8 Tb butter, divided
  • 20 sheets of phyllo dough
  • 2 c. sour cream
  • 2 c. cooked ham, cubed
  • 2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
  • 7 tsp dill weed, divided
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 Tb half-and-half

Preparation

Step 1

Place potatos in Dutch oven and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat. Cover and cook for 10-15 mins or until tender. Drain and in small skillet saute onion in 1 Tb butter until tender, set aside.

Melt remaining butter. Brush 9x13 dish with some butter.
Unroll phyllo dough, trim to fit dish. (Keep dough covered w/moist towel and plastic wrap)
Place one phyllo sheet in dish, brush with butter and repeat twice more.

Top with half the sour cream, potatos, ham and cheese. Combine 6 tsp dill, garlic and salt and pepper. Sprinkle over cheese.
Layer with three phyllo sheets, as in previous step. Top with remaining ingredients.
Layer with remaining phyllo dough as previous.
Combine egg and cream; brush over top. Sprinkle with remaining dill

Bake uncovered at 350 for 20-25 mins. Let stand 5 mins
