Mix & Match Stir-Fry

Stir-fry meals are a great way to incorporate all of the important food groups such as vegetables, proteins, and grains into one hearty meal. This recipe is a great twist on stir-fry, because it uses family-favourite flavours like ketchup as a savoury sauce which complements any variety of vegetables with your choice of meat, poultry or sea food. Your family will love it.
Ingredients
- 1 cup Heinz Tomato Ketchup
- 1/2 cup Heinz Tomato Juice
- 2 Tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp Lea & Perrins Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 tsp each horseradish and minced fresh ginger
- 2 Tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 onion
- 1 lb chicken, pork, beef strips, or shelled shrimp
- 4 cups mixed chopped vegetables such as broccoli, asparagus, bok choy, sweet peppers or snow peas
- Lemon or lime wedges (optional)

Step 1
To make chili mixture, stir ketchup with tomato juice, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish and minced ginger. Reserve. Heat the oil in a deep skillet or wok set over medium heat. Add onion and stir-fry for 3 minutes. Add meat or shrimp and continue to stir-fry for 3 minutes. Add vegetables and stir-fry2 minutes longer. Make a well in the centre of the pan and pour in reserved chili mixture. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 3 to 5 minutes or until meat is cooked through and sauce is thickened. Garnish with lemon if using.

Twist 1: For a complete Asian-style supper, served with cooked rice or noodles.
Twist 2: For a tangier version use Heinz Chili Sauce instead of Ketchup
Twist 3: For a spicier version, use Heinz Hot & Spicy Tomato Ketchup instead of regular Ketchup or add hot pepper sauce to taste
