Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 Tbsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm yeast
  • 1 cup unseasoned mashed potatoes
  • 2 cups warm milk
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 6 cups flour
  • 1 small box chocolate instant pudding mix
  • 2 cups milk
  • vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1 container (16oz) chocolate frosting

Preparation

Step 1

In a bowl, mix yeast, water, mashed potatoes, and milk together.

in a separate bowl, combine shortening, sugar, eggs, and salt, Stir mashed potato mixture into bowl with egg mixture. Stir in flour 1 cup at a time. Knead dough 1-2 minutes. Coverer bowl with plastic wrap and allow dough to rise 45 minutes.

In a bowl, mix together pudding mix and milk until pudding thickents. Place in the refrigerator until ready to fill donuts.

Roll out dough to 1 inch thickness on a floured cutting board. Cutdough into 4x4 inch squares. Fry dough in hot oil. Turn once making sure donut is golden brown on both sides. Spread chocolate frostin over hot donuts and then fill donuts with chocolate pudding using a kitchen syringe. Regrigerate leftovers.
