Ingredients
- 1 1/4 firmly packed light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup butter flavored crisco stick
- or 3/4 cup butter flavored crisco all vegitable shortening
- 2 tbs milk
- 1 tbs vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 3/4 cup all purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 3/4 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup (6 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans (optional)
- **Butter flavor Crisco is artificially flavored
- ***If pecans are omitted, add and additional 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
Preparation
Step 1
1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease 13x9 inch baking pan. Place cooling rack on countertop.
2. Place brown sugar, shortening, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Add egg, beat well.
3. Combine flour, salt and baking soda. Add to shortening mixture; beat at low speed just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips and pecans, if desired.
4. Press dough evenly onto bottom of prepared pan.
5. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until lightly browned and firm in the center. DO NOT over bake. Cool completely on cooling rack. Cut into 2x 1 1/2-inch bars.
