Cabbage Rolls - Lazy Man

  • 6 cups tightly packed cabbage (shredded)
  • 1 small onion (chopped)
  • 1 - 10 oz can mushroom stems & pieces
  • 1 can tomato soup
  • 1 can tomatoes (cut up)
  • 1 - 1 +1/2 lbs. Hamburger
  • 1 cup rice
  • 1 +3/4 cups water
  • 4 tbsp. margarine or butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • Dash of garlic salt
  • Other seasonings of choice



Step 1

In a large electric frying pan or dutch over, brown hamburger. Add onions, mushrooms, tomato soup, water, salt, pepper and other spices to taste. Simmer 10 minutes.

Add cabbage over top of mixture. Make small hole in centre of cabbage and pour rise in hole and over cabbage. Drop margarine on corners of cabbage. Cover and simmer for 5-10 minutes or until cabbage begins to shrink. Lightly stir so bottom does not stick. Repeat this till done, approximately 1 hour.

For last 10 minutes or longer, cook uncovered if too watery.
