Ingredients
- 1 (8 oz) package medium egg noodles (use only 6 oz)
- Salt
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 1 TBS butter
- 1/8 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/4 tsp garlic salt
- 1 cup tomato sauce or puree ( use one 14-15 oz can)
- 1 cup creamed cottage cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup chopped green onions
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
- 1 small can sliced mushrooms and their liquid
Preparation
Step 1
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
2. Cook noodles in boiling salted water. Rinse in cold water, drain.
3. Brown meat in butter, then add 1 tsp salt,pepper, garlic salt and tomato sauce. Simmer for 5".
4. In a bowl, combine cottage cheese, sour cream, green onions, mushroom and their liquid and noodles.
5. Alternate layers of noodle mixture and meat mixture in a 2 qt casserole, beginning w/ noodles and ending w/ meat. Top w/ shredded cheese.
Bake for 20-25" or until cheese in melted and browned.
