Ingredients
- Cream together:
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 1 cup sugar
- Add in:
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Combine dry ingredients and mix well with above ingredients:
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- Add:
- 1 cup sour cream
- Mix well and fold in:
- 2 cups peeled and chopped apples (I use Fuji) – about 2 apples
- Topping:
- 2 Tbs butter
- 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional, walnuts or pecans)
- 3/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
Preparation
Step 1
Pour batter into 9 x 13 ungreased pan. Sprinkle topping over batter. Put into freezer (at least 24 hours so it is frozen solid)
To bake:
Put frozen cake in cold oven. Set oven at 350. Bake uncovered for 1 hour. DO NOT PREHEAT OVEN!
