Cheese Puff Cubes

Ingredients

  • 1 loaf French or Italian, unsliced, then cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 stick butter
  • 3 ounces cream cheese
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/4 lb sharp cheddar cheese

Preparation

Step 1

Melt the cheese and butter over a very low fire.

Beat egg whites until stiff.

Fold egg whites into cheese butter mixture and dip bread into mixture until they are covered. Chill on a cookie sheet.

Bake at 400 about 20 minutes til brown. They may be frozen on a cookie sheet and then stored in a plastic bag indefinitely. Makes about 6 dozen.
