Ingredients
- Double Recipe Makes approx. 70 cookies
- 6-7 Cups of all purpose Flour May need more if dough remains sticky)
- 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
- 6 Heaping teaspoons baking powder
- 2 Sticks of Margarine or Butter
- 1 Cup granulated Sugar or more
- 8 Large egges
- 2 Teaspoons of Anise Extract
- 2 Teaspoons Sour Cream
- Smaller Recipe (makes approx. 40 cookies)
- 2 1/2 Cups of all purpose Flour
- 1/4 Teaspoon Salt
- 3 Heaping teaspoons baking powder
- 1 Stick of Margarine or Butter
- 1/2 Cup granulated Sugar
- 4 Eggs
- 1 1/2 Teaspoons of Anise Extract
- 1 Teaspoon Sour Cream
- 1 2/3 Cups of confectioners sugar
- Gradually add a few drops of water to desired icing consistency. Spread over the tops of each cookie and let dry.
Preparation
Step 1
Mix all ingredients together sugar, butter, eggs and anise extract, sour cream.
Mix nflour, salt and baking powder
Add to sugar mixture. If dough is too sticky add more flour. Work dough on a floured bread board and form into small knots or braids. You may roll into balls too.
Bake on ungreased cookie sheet
Bake 375 degrees for 12 Minutes - until bottoms are light brown. Don’t over brown
