Multi-Layer Coffee Cake (Dana)

Ingredients

  • BATTER:
  • 1/2 c. Butter (softened)
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 drops vanilla
  • 1/2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • FILLING:
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 c. Walnuts (Chopped)

Preparation

Step 1

For BATTER, sift together the flour and baking powder. In a separate bowl, blend the remaining ingredients together, then add the flour mixture.

For FILLING, just mix all the ingredients together. It helps to soften the butter, but just use a knife to blend it – it will be VERY crumbly.

Pour half the batter into a 13×9 pan. Cover with half the filling. Then add the other half of the batter, then the rest of the filling on top. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes. Test the center with a toothpick to make sure it’s done – it might take a little longer depending on your oven.

After it cools down, stir together some powdered sugar and milk in a small bowl and drizzle it over the top of the coffee cake.
