Ingredients
- 10-12 slices of soft loaf bread
- 1 8 oz pkg of cream cheese, room temperature
- 1 egg yolk
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 stick butter
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
Preparation
Step 1
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a small bowl combine, cream cheese, egg yolk, 3 tbsp sugar and vanilla and stir, or mix with a mixer, till ingredients are well combined.
Gather desired amount of bread slices and cut off the crusts.
Flatten bread slices
Spread a fairly thin layer of cream cheese mixture on one side of each slice.
Roll them up being careful not to squeeze out the cream cheese mixture.
In a small bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon and powdered sugar and stir to blend. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
Melt the butter in a glass bowl. Let cool for a minute or two.
Dip each roll in the butter until covered (do not soak) and immediately
roll each roll in the sugar cinnamon mixture and arrange each roll on a lightly butted or oiled cookie sheet or sheet pan. (I prefer to use a silicone baking sheet. Nothing sticks to that.)
Bake for 20 minutes at 350 or until slightly crispy. Do not overcook.
