Ingredients
- 1/4 C butter, cubed
- 4 lg onions, sliced
- 1/4 C sugar
- 2 TBL flour
- 2 cans (14-1/2oz each) beef broth
- 2 cans (10-1/2oz each) condensed french onion soup
- 2 C water
- 1/2 C grated Parmesan cheese
- 9 slices french bread (1/2" thick
- 9 TBL shredded mozzarella cheese
Preparation
Step 1
in dutch oven over med-high heat, melt butter
add onions
saute until tender
add sugar
cook & stir until lightly browned
stir in flour until blended
gradually add broth, soup & water
bring to boil
reduce heat
cover & simmer 10 min
stir in parmesan cheese
meanwhile place bread on baking sheet
broil 4" from heat for 2 min on each side or until toasted
sprinkle w/ mozzarella
broil for 2 min or until cheese is melted
ladle soup into bowls
top each w/ cheese toast
CAN MAKE IN SLOW COOKER - COOK ON LOW FOR 3-4 HRS.
