- Caramel Brownies
- 1 14oz. bag of caramels (50 caramels)
- 2/3 cup evaporated milk
- 1 package German Chocolate Cake Mix
- 3/4 cup melted butter
- 12 oz. package chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped pecans (optional)
Heat caramels and 1/3 cup evaporated milk until melted (I microwave). Set aside. Combine cake mix, melted butter, 1/3 cup evaporated milk, and nuts (I leave the nuts out).
Put ½ dough in greased 13 x 9” pan. (It doesn’t seem like enough, but you spread it very thin covering the whole pan.) Bake 6 minutes at 350 degrees. Remove from oven. Sprinkle the top with the chocolate chips. Pour caramel mixture on top. Drop remaining dough on top. Do not spread, just sort of cover as much as possible. Bake 15-18 minutes more at 350 degrees. Let cool, then freeze or refrigerate before cutting.
